Yeah but I'm a bit obsessive compulsive and I want all the little
smilies to line up right just in a certain way, so short of making an
automated script that would actually examine the pixel data...yeah,
needs to be done manually by hand.

Yeah I've got em loaded in as sprites and then I can just
copy/recreate the sprites as needed.

Sadly no, it's support for inline images is...crap, to say the least
bit.

Well, getting them in there is easy enough, when it's going through
the loaded message file and it see's:
: [txt]Hi my name is Joe.[ico]clown[txt]I like cheese.

When constructing the text it'll use say 3 spaces whenever there is an
[ico] tag and then just continue the rest of the text after it and
then it'll run a simultaneous function that create a copy of the
sprite and then position it over the white space.

The hard part is:
A. How to get the positioning it needs to place the sprite, the most
obvious yet annoying approach would to use something like this:
:
http://www.actionscript.org/resources/articles/78/1/Animating-Text-By-Using-ActionScript/Page1.html

and then...

B. What to do when the icon height exceeds the text height.

If I can figure out those two things I'll be good.
